Omnimax!

So on Tuesday, we went to the Science Centre. But before we entered the OmniMax Theater, we had this science lesson about the rock formation at the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. The 'lecturer' has a very strange way of pronouncing simple words such as 'snake'. She pronounced it as 'Snag'. But overall, it was quite entertaining. Here are some photos.

"Let me try to squeeze the Colorado River out"

"I must have caused the Colorado River to catch fire! Nooooo!"

Then, we made our way to the Omnimax Theater to watch a documentary about the Grand Canyon and it's surroundings. The graphics was simply stunning. Here are some photos I took of the documentary:

Outside the Theater, a mummy plaster statue

Amazing life-like pictures:

So, after that show we left for school. Upon reaching school, I saw this Nissan 200SX parking in our school. I wonder who owns that Nissan. It's quite rare to see a 200SX in S'pore.

Nissan 200SX in the school's car park.

Went for that Dr William Tan talk which was inspiring, but boring at the same time. I fell asleep halfway through the talk and don't know what happened next.

Wednesday was the day where the various Tertiary institutions would come to advertise their courses. I was posted to S'pore Poly Mechanical and Electronics, Shatec and S'pore Poly Maritime. The S'pore Poly talk was the best as I got out of the courses $20 richer. The reason for my sudden 'wealth' is because I randomly answered some questions that they put out to the floor and they gave me a $10 Pizza Hut voucher for answering each question correctly. I like the S'pore Poly course because it interests me. For example, that Mechanical talk covered Aerospace, cars and various other things. They even showed a picture of Michael Schumacher's Ferrari at Sepang, M'sia 2005. Maritime was interesting too because I got to learn things about ships that I never knew before. For example, the students at the Maritime school get paid to study. Wtf, so good!

Shatec was plain boring and useless. It was largely about how you should join that institution so that you become a better waiter/waitress. Sorry, but I have no interest in being a waiter. But the most memorable moment that came out of Shatec was: The speaker said: "I suggest you stop at 'N' levels and join Shatec instead, don't waste your time". What rubbish statement is that? And for the record, I don't even take N levels. Besides, being in the food industry does not float my boat, so sorry, the Shatec talk was just a complete waste of my time.

Then we went to AVA room 2 for a movie of Fantastic 4. I was listening to my radio while watching the movie at the same time. I never watched Fantastic 4 before. So, some scenes amused me! The only problem was, that Titus was extremely noisy and irritating throughout the movie. I bet he will be kicked out from a cinema hall if he was to carry this kind of behaviour over to the cinema.

Went to Vivo with Yagesh and Diva after school to... Yes you guessed it! To play that G25 steering wheel again! Muhaha. This was Yagesh's first time playing the game so I taught him the basics of driving. He tried the auto gear first before switching the manual. I warned him that the game was much harder than it looks and he agreed with my statement after crashing in the first corner. But at least, he beat Diva by miles in terms of driving ability and sense of direction. Yagesh struggled a little with manual gear but said it was more fun to drive than auto - a statement which is completely true! I aced the game by beating the best lap record, setting a time of 2min 28 secs in a Mitsubishi Evo X around a lap of Suzuka Track, Japan. A check on Youtube shows that I'm one of the fastest driver in a Evo X around Suzuka! I feel so proud of myself. Hahaha! Went home with Yagesh on 855 after a successful round of driving.

Exams results are released on Thursday and Friday. I have to say, overall I did better than expected. I expected to fail 2 subjects at least but ended up only failing one.

English - Comprehension was a disaster. I barely passed. I got 26/50! Now, how pathetic is that! Well, at least I passed compre. Buger said compre was very badly done overall. But on the bright side, Buger said I was top in level for compo! I was like OMG! I just anyhow write the transport question and got 24/30. I never ever in my life got so high for compo. My passion for transportation has finally paid off! I got a total of B4 for English. Kim was the highest with a B3. The majority got either a fail or a 'C' grade.

Maths - Hahaha! As expected, I failed like shit. I got 37.5 for both Paper 1 and 2 combined. F9 for Maths, what horrible result. 403's MSG was 7.89 which is plain pathetic. But 402's MSG was worse, I think it was 8. something. Well on the bright side, at least we are not last in the level.

Chemistry - Only 10 people passed. And guess what, I passed! It's incredible, I rarely passed Chemistry. I don't know how I passed with a C5. I was expecting C6 at best. But the best thing is, I beat Diva in chemistry, fair and square!

Physics - Physics was a total surprise! I was expecting C5 at best. But I got A2! Wow! This A2 grade pulled up my Combined Science results to B4 which is a vast improvement from last year's C6!

Geography - As expected, I got an A2 which was acceptable. But, the unexpected thing was that Cynthia, the geog queen finally, at long last, met her match! Quincy from 401 beat her in Combined Humans! Cynthia is definitely falling off her throne as a tree hugger.

Social Studies: It was horribly done. I expected a 30+ marks but I got 27. Pathetic. My SEQ basically screwed up and it caused my Combined Humans marks to drop drastically, fell down from 5th place to 11th place. So sad!

POA - I passed with a 56/100 mark. I think that this is the best I can achieve as POA revision was done last minute. I am glad that I passed my POA even though a better grade is desired.

Chinese: Wow! I passed, incredible! And my listening compre got an all time high of 18/20! But, the very sad news is that, our Chinese teacher is leaving us and that slutty Chinese HOD is going to take over! NOOOOOO! Gone are the days of slacking, gone are the days of having a good nap, gone are the days of reading Top Gear Magazine in the open during Chinese lesson. I guess our Chinese teacher reached his limits of sanity and decided to resign before we make him go insane. I am really going to miss him! Sobs :(

D&T - Results are not released yet, But I am confident that I will not fail.

As you can see, it has been a rather eventful week. This coming weekend will be a long weekend as Vesak day falls on Monday. I am very tempted to go arcade on Monday to play Battle Gear 4 (if you don't know what that is, read my previous few posts). So, I hope you did well in your MYE and if you didn't, don't despair! There's always the prelims and O levels. Talking about O levels, good luck for those taking their MT O levels in roughly 1 week time :) Till then, enjoy!
